The RIDER Institute is crowdfunding $2,000,000 for DRACO antiviral that may be effective against virtually all viruses

An Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign began May 3rd to raise funds to test and optimize DRACOs against major clinical viruses. BOSTON, May 11, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The RIDER Institute has launched an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign to fund DRACO broad-spectrum antiviral therapeutics, which were invented by Dr. Todd Rider at MIT and for which proof-of-concept experiments were published in the peer-reviewed journal PLoS ONE. The RIDER Institute announces an IndieGoGo crowdfunding campaign to help fund Dr. Todd Rider's research and development of DRACO broad-spectrum antiviral therapeutics. DRACOs have proven effective against all 18 viruses tested in previous proof-of-concept experiments. Testing and Optimizing DRACO Therapeutics Against Members of the Herpesvirus Family

April 12, 2016 BACKGROUND AND MOTIVATION Currently there are relatively few prophylactics or therapeutics for viruses, and most that do exist are highly pathogen-specific or have undesirable side effects or other disadvantages. We have developed a radically new, broad-spectrum antiviral therapeutic/prophylactic that has the potential to revolutionize the treatment of viral infections. Our Double-stranded RNA Activated Caspase Oligomerizer (DRACO) approach selectively induces apoptosis (cell suicide) in cells containing viral double-stranded RNA (dsRNA).
